so! despite canon literally being like "no, castorice, you can't touch anyone" i want to play her in a game with touch mechanics anyway.
"nilla why--" because i love her and hate myself. next question.
"okay so what then" tl;dr i'm going to make some leaps in logic and fudge with the rules a tad so she can function and also be held once in a while. please give her a hug.
what we know:
🦋 castorice's touch causes the living to disintegrate (like in this short). the less someone fights death, the longer they're able to hang on, but it's implied to be quick regardless
🦋 this isn't limited to her hands (see her splash art)
🦋 the broken tree branch she holds at multiple points in the short doesn't disintegrate
🦋 we see two instances of castorice giving someone a hug: once in the above short, and once in the game itself
🦋 she's not entirely sure how her ability would interact with a non-physical entity that is still technically alive, but is not about to Fuck Around And Find Out at someone else's expense (see here)
🦋 but she is able to use her touch to track down the soul of someone whose soul went missing! the longer she touches, the clearer direction she can receive (like the difference between "somewhere to the left, but who knows how far" and "in the forest five miles from here")
the leaps i'm making:
🦋 her touch won't impact someone who is immortal
🦋 her touch also won't impact someone/something that is already dead
🦋 finally, i'll be saying her touch won't impact something inorganic, even if that thing is attached to something organic (i.e. she could possibly touch a prosthetic but not a flesh and blood arm)
what this all means:
please comment below if you would like your character to be able to touch castorice! she'll always operate with an abundance of caution, but jazz hands. this truly is my best written permissions post ever--
