so! despite canon literally being like "no, castorice, you can't touch anyone" i want to play her in a game with touch mechanics anyway.

"nilla why--" because i love her and hate myself. next question.

"okay so what then" tl;dr i'm going to make some leaps in logic and fudge with the rules a tad so she can function and also be held once in a while. please give her a hug.


what we know:
🦋 castorice's touch causes the living to disintegrate (like in this short). the less someone fights death, the longer they're able to hang on, but it's implied to be quick regardless
🦋 this isn't limited to her hands (see her splash art)
🦋 the broken tree branch she holds at multiple points in the short doesn't disintegrate
🦋 we see two instances of castorice giving someone a hug: once in the above short, and once in the game itself
🦋 she's not entirely sure how her ability would interact with a non-physical entity that is still technically alive, but is not about to Fuck Around And Find Out at someone else's expense (see here)
🦋 but she is able to use her touch to track down the soul of someone whose soul went missing! the longer she touches, the clearer direction she can receive (like the difference between "somewhere to the left, but who knows how far" and "in the forest five miles from here")


the leaps i'm making:
🦋 her touch won't impact someone who is immortal
🦋 her touch also won't impact someone/something that is already dead
🦋 finally, i'll be saying her touch won't impact something inorganic, even if that thing is attached to something organic (i.e. she could possibly touch a prosthetic but not a flesh and blood arm)


what this all means:
please comment below if you would like your character to be able to touch castorice! she'll always operate with an abundance of caution, but jazz hands. this truly is my best written permissions post ever--

So the original Kantera is hella dead. This Kantera is a figure from a dream given physical form, so I'm gonna say he was never technically alive in the first place...? He definitely isn't aging and may be immortal in the 'will never die of old age' sense, though definitely not the 'can't be killed' sense.

Something something those things you're walking around with are just puppets, something something I want this CR so I'm going to say she can touch Kantera if that works for you.

Technically Mamoru/ reincarnatedprince is immortal (well as long as he's near Usagi...?) Both of my divine beings (Amaterasu/ doggoduties and Loki/ divineliar) definitely are and the Kpop Demon Hunters demons are apparently immortal so Jinu/ whatwedeserve works as well.

ooh fun! falin's very happy to touch people in general and she won't mind the whole "this might whole-ass kill you (for a while, because seasons)" thing (she's pretty loosey-goosey when it comes to death in general), so i would love for her to be able to touch castorice! she has died before, but is not currently dead (died and got successfully resurrected back home, in canon), so i assume castorice's powers will work on her the usual way.

also! i would love some CR with her if you're down! falin can see ghosts and speak to them and exorcise them when they possess people, so death is kind of her thing in general (hence the gravekeeper job), and so she would definitely have a lot to bond over with castorice. no pressure or anything, but yeah if you're interested you know where to find me! :D

dgjvdflkjb MISS FALIN PLEASE HAVE MORE REGARD FOR YOUR LIFE???? based on what i remember of dunmeshi and what the game specifies about cas's ability (not a lot, i feel like i pulled so much out of my ass here,) i think her powers would work like normal on falin? so cas would be less willing to touch her. but honestly cas having to continuously step away because miss falin she will kill you if you touch her and that's not a threat would be VERY funny LMAOOOO

but regardless of above, yes absolutely!! i would love cr with you!! i need to reply to your tag (i've had a real bad headache the past few days rip) but bless falin for misunderstanding her reasons but having her heart in the right place :") i'm excited to see where they might end up!

Does it count as immortal if a magical girl canonly revives herself all the time...? I think it does. So maybe we can add Usagi to the list of those, who can touch her???

And Madoka (healing_wish) is from a magical girl timeline, so uh, her body sure isn't a normal human body either for all the cute platonic things maybe?

... Then there's Rumi (denyingit), who is an interesting case of being a half-demon, so if you want even more cute, platonic things, maybe she could be an exception too? Doesn't have to be but could be. :>

Though hey, I will gladly go with any loopholes from any of my girls if you have more ideas / wishes, hahah.

i would say usagi and madoka definitely count! the revivals/looping remind me a bit of mydei, one of her castmates that i've also given the thumbs up to. also the magical girls are cute and castorice deserves the cute frienda

i don't think rumi being a half-demon would be enough for an exception though 🤔 since the demons can still die, and even if they couldn't i'd think the touch would still get the human half of her. but i'm still down to explore cr with them even if they can't touch!!!
